Hi, the Officers quarters (exterior and interior) were filmed on location at Schofield Barracks. My family lived in a similar house. Your photo shows the backyard lanai, the houses were C shaped, the wing you see is the screened back hallway that housed the kitchen pantry, laundry area and maids quarters! Mahalo for the page.
When the two soldiers are on their way to the New Congress Club you see the street sign for River Street, which is the edge of Chinatown. Hotel Street was famous for it’s clubs. I think the real club from those days was called the Senate Club.
Yep, noticed the street sign.. however the street looks extremely fake. Businesses’ names don’t seem to be real either, including the “Joylana Dancing”. Haven’t found any old pictures of Honolulu to match the structures seen in the film.
It was called The New Senator Hotel, a brothel famed throughout the Army and the Pacific fleet.
What “Quad” was the barracks location? I was assigned to 1-14 Infantry in C Quad.
1/14th GoldenDragons Great Memories Hoorah! B/co HHC/co 95 – 99
Hi Tony, I was assigned to B Co 1/14th from 5/90 thru 6/93. I loved seeing the old quads! Right of the Line.
After watching From Here To Eternity and watching the scenes at Schofield Barracks really brought back some real good memories . I was station at Schofield from May 1963 to November 1964. And always remember the friends I had made I heard my 25th Division went to Vietnam in 1965 and the most of the outfit was sent in 1966. I was 18 at the time, and
became a real good Soldier, and that was because of the men I was stationed with I was real proud of my outfit and still proud. I came home proud to serve my Country .

Hoorah! Peace and Respect!💪🏾
I was in the 65th combat engineer bn. I lived in f-quad, I was there from Dec 1977 until July of 1979. Nice going to the beach on Christmas and New Year day. Came back to CT and I’m still here, freezing my ass off,,lol. From Here to Eternity is on tv today,,think I’ll view
I was B725 from March 77 to ETS June 79 (B Quad). My last 6 months I was a lifeguard Ft Derussy Waikiki Beach.
The backyard filmed in the movie was at my parent’s quarters, Capt. and Mrs. Deatherage. The company commander’s office was my dad’s, Capt. Deatherage. Before filming the base commander brought Burt Lancaster over to my dad’s office and they sat and talked for over an hour. My dad liked him. My dad had risen thru the ranks from a private in 1940, been in WWII and Korea. Guess Lancaster asked a lot of questions.
