The location shown of the track were Karras was jogging is incorrect. The Yates Field House now sits on the original location, right next to the old Heyden Observatory. (You can see its lime dome in the movie still.) It’s amazing (and sad) how much can change in 6 short years.
Does anyone know where the shot of Father Merrin walking in the woods was shot? It looks very similar to the trail Jody Foster was on in the beginning of The Silence of The Lambs.
I just watched a bit of the movie for the first time ever! I have always been too creeped out by scenes I’ve glimpsed over the years. I was 12 in 1973 and my 17 yr old brother came home scared to death after seeing it. He got into bed and pulled the covers over his head. First and last time that ever happened. Anyway, I expected to see some reference to Fordham University (Keating Hall) in the Bronx, NY, my alma mater, which I’ve always heard was used in some scenes. Also, the steep steps at the end look so much like steps in the Bronx. Guess I’ll have to visit DC to maybe find some of these locations. Very interesting article. Thanks.
The Barringer Clinic and Foundation was located at 900 Sylvan Ave, Englewood Cliffs, NJ. The building was demolished in 2001 to make way for the new headquarters of CNBC. However, the rock formation where the sign was placed is still there.

Here’s a link to Google Maps showing the correct location: https://goo.gl/maps/eBDaXMGCPCy
Here’s a link to a Washington Times article (1979) discussing the field house construction:

Any ideas where the exterior shots of the bar ringer clinic and foundation were made?
