If I remember correctly, the source for this was some online book found on Google Books. I figure this wouldn’t be too hard to dig up.

Unfortunately, there was hardly any accurate information on its whereabouts.

I’m from Palmdale and it looked like to me it was filmed near Lake Palmdale known as Finley lake today is the 14 freeway which was not there

Great movie. Too bad it wasn’t shot in a real border town like calexico or downtown El Centro. Budget concerns I’m sure.

The “Mirador Motel” scenes were filmed south of Palmdale at a motel called El Rancho Courson. It had been owned by Mel Courson, a Palmdale Chamber of Commerce president for whom a park in Palmdale is named. Courson died in 1952, so whether the motel was still operating in 1957 I don’t know. The motel was known to Hollywood: Courson said Ava Gardner stayed there in the late 1940s while Howard Hughes was visiting what is now Edwards AFB. The bungalows survived at least until the 1970s. Houses now cover the site. It is on Barrel Springs Road between Sierra Highway and the Antelope Valley Freeway, which hadn’t been built when “Touch of Evil” was filmed,

Well I’ll say! Impressive detective job here! Historical imagery nails it pretty quickly as the area was virtually an empty lot in the middle of nowhere fifty years ago!

Operating in 1957,8,9 and 1960 possibly longer. Marsh and Mary emery owned and operated the site in those years. Marsh passed and Mary moved to hesperia and built lake rotobo, named for her sons and now known as hesperia lake.
