the photo from google pertaining to the red basket in incorrect. actually it would be about 400-800′ south.
Almost across the street from the intersection of College Hwy Rt-10 and Pomeroy Meadow Rd,
Right where the opa opa building is, is where it USED to be.

I recall when they were filming in Southampton as I was living there. I was in 4H horse club in town and some of the kids rode their horses over to the cow pasture right next to the Red Basket parking lot where they filmed so that they could meet Taylor. The swing scene was almost across the street (just to the left of Pomeroy Meadow Road) and kids I knew snuck through the Southampton Cemetery to watch and were caught. Southampton Cemetery was immediately to the left of the house with the swing.

Years ago I was watching Mike Nichols being interviewed by Merv Griffin and they discussed the filming of this and he brought up the fact that the “dairy farmer in Southampton sued the movie production because they had soured their cows”. The farmer was my friends father – and I had never known about it until that TV interview.
